DOES COLUMBUS REALLY NEED A NEW CHURCH?

Columbus is a city
worth planting in,
and a city worth

planting from.

Columbus is more than a city with spiritual need. It's a city of remarkable strategic significance.

Nearly 1 in 6 Columbus residents was born outside of the United States. Global employers such as Cummins and Toyota have helped make this rural Indiana city one of the most internationally diverse communities in the state. People in Columbus live, work, and raise families in a city with global reach.

At the same time, southern Indiana has a rich church heritage, yet the need for healthy, Christ-magnifying churches remains as urgent as ever. Many communities throughout the region need more churches that are gripped by an unwavering commitment to proclaim Christ and fulfill his Great Commission.

Positioned at the heart of the region, Columbus has a unique opportunity to become a launching point for gospel renewal — strengthening churches, planting churches, and raising up disciples who will carry the hope of Jesus in all of southern Indiana and to all nations.

We're planting Renewal Bible Church in Columbus because we love its heritage, believe in its future, and long to see future generations renewed by the hope of Jesus.

Where We're Going — and When.

A LETTER FROM THE PLANTING PASTOR

Why We Are Going
to
Columbus.

Our call to church planting didn't start with a passion for church planting strategy. It started with Columbus.

It started after God began growing in our family a quiet, undeniable burden for this city and its people. The more we learned about Columbus — its history, successes, brokenness, diversity, and spiritual need — the more Ari and I couldn't shake the sense that this was where God was calling our family.

We're two Midwest kids who love Indiana and the rhythms of life in a small city. And we've seen the way God can use a healthy church to renew people in the grace of Jesus Christ.

It breaks my heart that so many people have been hurt by churches, because God meant the church to be a family defined by deep love and unbreakable unity. This is something I believe because the Bible teaches it (Ephesians 2:11–22), and because I've experienced it. The Bride of Christ mothered me through the dynamics of my broken home life, formed me as a man, and trained me as a pastor.

I didn't become a church planter because I love strategy and leadership. I'm a church planter because I love God's Church.

I'm not here for a season. By God's grace, I will pastor in Columbus for decades — walking with you through marriages and funerals, seasons of doubt and seasons of joy, and through the long and ordinary work of becoming more like Jesus together. And Ari is my partner in all of this. She's a woman of sincere faith, deep loyalty, and a gift for hospitality that every church needs to establish a healthy culture of unity and love.

Ari and I are all in. Columbus is not a stepping stone for us. It is home.

We hope to see God save, renew, and send faithful disciples of Jesus from Renewal Bible Church — for the fame of God's Name and the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

I hope you'll join us.
